Perfect Escape by Jennifer Brown

"Kendra has always felt overshadowed by her older brother, Grayson, whose OCD forces him to live a life of carefully coordinated routines. The only way Kendra can stand out next to Grayson is to be perfect, and she has perfection down to an art -- until a cheating scandal threatens her flawless reputation.
Behind the wheel of her car, with Grayson asleep beside her, Kendra decides to drive away from it all -- with enough distance, maybe she'll be able to figure everything out. But eventually, Kendra must stop running and come to terms with herself, her brother, and her past.
With undeniable grace and humor, acclaimed author Jennifer Brown explores OCD, the pressure for perfection, and the emotional highs and lows of a complex sibling relationship." -Goodreads.com

So for about the first half of Perfect Escape I just felt "meh" about it, it was ok but I didn't feel attached to any of the characters... but I loved the ending so much, I don't think I will reread it again but the ending is what stuck with me.

February Update.

Yay! Am now 1/6 done with a post about each book :-)
This month I read a total of 27 books, which isn't that bad considering it's almost a book a day (and I do have a book I'm currently reading that has about 150 pages left so I might finish that book later tonight).
Hopefully I can keep up with this reading binge I have been on for the past 3 months. If I do I might actually be able to read 365 books this year which would be amazing since I have never done that.
Anyways.
Sorry for the rambling,
S

1776: A Story in Tweets by Maureen Johnson

Oh gosh, 1776 is so funny! A MaureenJohnsonized version of early american history, told via twitter. Although it was pretty short (took me less than 20 min to read) it kept my attention and now am really wanting a story told via tweets :)

Sever by Lauren DeStefano

"Time is running out for Rhine in this conclusion to the New York Times bestselling Chemical Garden Trilogy.
With the clock ticking until the virus takes its toll, Rhine is desperate for answers. After enduring Vaughn’s worst, Rhine finds an unlikely ally in his brother, an eccentric inventor named Reed. She takes refuge in his dilapidated house, though the people she left behind refuse to stay in the past. While Gabriel haunts Rhine’s memories, Cecily is determined to be at Rhine’s side, even if Linden’s feelings are still caught between them.
Meanwhile, Rowan’s growing involvement in an underground resistance compels Rhine to reach him before he does something that cannot be undone. But what she discovers along the way has alarming implications for her future—and about the past her parents never had the chance to explain.
In this breathtaking conclusion to Lauren DeStefano’s Chemical Garden trilogy, everything Rhine knows to be true will be irrevocably shattered." -Goodreads.com

Ok, so when I started Sever I actually had no idea what it was going to be about, I remembered how the last  book ended but I actually hadn't read the back of the dust jacket or the inside it before reading it. The only "hints" I had was the things on the book cover since I already knew that the different objects on it are in the book (Which how freaking cool is that???). I loved how Sever picks up pretty much right after Fever, and it flowed really well. There is so much I'm not saying on here though because I really am trying not to ruin books on here, especially the last in a series *wimpers* (which is also harder due to the fact that my main book buddy stilllllll hasn't read it, I know it has only been out a few days but stilllll). Anyways... I also loved in the book though was how everything was pretty much connected, some I saw coming but a whole lot I didn't (Yippie for book surprises!). So overall a fantastic conclusion to a amazing series, even though there was some certain parts I did not like at all... and had to reread to make sure that that truly just happened...

Fever by Lauren DeStefano

"Rhine and Gabriel have escaped the mansion, but danger is never far behind.
Running away brings Rhine and Gabriel right into a trap, in the form of a twisted carnival whose ringmistress keeps watch over a menagerie of girls. Just as Rhine uncovers what plans await her, her fortune turns again. With Gabriel at her side, Rhine travels through an environment as grim as the one she left a year ago - surroundings that mirror her own feelings of fear and hopelessness.
The two are determined to get to Manhattan, to relative safety with Rhine’s twin brother, Rowan. But the road there is long and perilous - and in a world where young women only live to age twenty and young men die at twenty-five, time is precious. Worse still, they can’t seem to elude Rhine’s father-in-law, Vaughn, who is determined to bring Rhine back to the mansion...by any means necessary.
In the sequel to Lauren DeStefano’s harrowing Wither, Rhine must decide if freedom is worth the price - now that she has more to lose than ever." -Goodreads.com
Rereading Fever I completely forgot how much had happened in this one book, and of course ending up loving it even more :)

Wither by Lauren DeStefano

"By age sixteen, Rhine Ellery has four years left to live. She can thank modern science for this genetic time bomb. A botched effort to create a perfect race has left all males with a lifespan of 25 years, and females with a lifespan of 20 years. Geneticists are seeking a miracle antidote to restore the human race, desperate orphans crowd the population, crime and poverty have skyrocketed, and young girls are being kidnapped and sold as polygamous brides to bear more children. When Rhine is kidnapped and sold as a bride, she vows to do all she can to escape. Her husband, Linden, is hopelessly in love with her, and Rhine can’t bring herself to hate him as much as she’d like to. He opens her to a magical world of wealth and illusion she never thought existed, and it almost makes it possible to ignore the clock ticking away her short life. But Rhine quickly learns that not everything in her new husband’s strange world is what it seems. Her father-in-law, an eccentric doctor bent on finding the antidote, is hoarding corpses in the basement. Her fellow sister wives are to be trusted one day and feared the next, and Rhine is desperate to communicate to her twin brother that she is safe and alive. Will Rhine be able to escape--before her time runs out?" -Goodreads.com
Anyone who knows me knows that I adore this series. It's one of those books I love so much I at times grab it to reread a passage... but yet since I actually haven't reread the whole book since I first read it I decided (when I saw Sever would be coming in the mail the next day..) to reread both Wither and Fever before starting Sever. And I am so glad I did. Not only did I fall even more in love with Wither I also fell in love with the the characters in general and actually cried in the last book...

Speechless by Hannah Harrington

"Everyone knows that Chelsea Knot can't keep a secret
Until now. Because the last secret she shared turned her into a social outcast—and nearly got someone killed.
Now Chelsea has taken a vow of silence—to learn to keep her mouth shut, and to stop hurting anyone else. And if she thinks keeping secrets is hard, not speaking up when she's ignored, ridiculed and even attacked is worse.
But there's strength in silence, and in the new friends who are, shockingly, coming her way—people she never noticed before; a boy she might even fall for. If only her new friends can forgive what she's done. If only she can forgive herself." -Goodreads.com

Speechless was differently different then what I've read recently. I've read ones about someone that was silent for most of the book (Like Speak and Silent Storm) but never about someone who purposely decided to become mute. I love in a way that I actually hated the main character but in turn with what happened and her stop speaking made her grow up so much and realize that you shouldn't go and speak without thinking.

Scarlet by Marissa Meyer

"Cinder returns in the second thrilling installment of the New York Times-bestselling Lunar Chronicles. She’s trying to break out of prison—even though if she succeeds, she’ll be the Commonwealth’s most wanted fugitive.
Halfway around the world, Scarlet Benoit’s grandmother is missing. It turns out there are many things Scarlet doesn’t know about her grandmother and the grave danger she has lived in her whole life. When Scarlet encounters Wolf, a street fighter who may have information as to her grandmother’s whereabouts, she has no choice but to trust him, though he clearly has a few dark secrets of his own.
As Scarlet and Wolf work to unravel one mystery, they find another when they cross paths with Cinder. Together, they must stay one step ahead of the vicious Lunar Queen who will do anything to make Prince Kai her husband, her king, her prisoner." -Goodreads.com

Always and Forever by Karla J. Nellenbach

"Mia's first reaction is outright disbelief. Obviously, a mistake has been made. Sixteen-year-old girls don't die. But, when the diagnosis is confirmed, she dives headlong into anger. If she has to die, why should it be of cancer? In fact, anything would be preferable to cancer. Better for her to say when, where, and especially how.
Determined to meet death on her own terms, Mia devises scheme after scheme to get the job done. A “fall” down the basement stairs, driving her car off a bridge, and even a dance with a train all end in her survival.
And through it all, Mia keeps her family and friends at arms' length with her destructive and hurtful behavior. With each failed suicide attempt and burned relationship, she slowly realizes that it’s not the dying that she’s afraid of, but the life she’ll be leaving behind. Now, that life is in a shambles. As time begins to slip through her fingers and death is upon her, Mia fights to rebuild the bridges she has destroyed, but can she do it before the clock runs out?" -Goodreads.com
Oh gosh, I seriously hope Karla J. Nellenbach keeps on writing books. Always and Forever was one of those books I didn't want to end, and I have this feeling if I had been reading the paperback version of it it would have been soaked in tears. I actually lost track how many times I cried while reading it....

He is trained for several years, and learns to fight to the death. He proves to the Queen -- and to himself -- that he is capable of evil. He is just the kind of soldier the Queen wants: the alpha of his pack." -Goodreads.com

Bliss is another one of those middle grade books that if I had read it when I was younger probably have loved it, but being older it just didn't capture my attention as much, though didn't get slightly sucked into it towards the ending.. but I don't know if I will ever get around to read the sequel...

Summer on the Mountain by Rosemarie Naramore

"When artist Summer Windham is offered the chance to vacation at her boss, Gwendolyn’s, mountain cabin, she’s delighted. There’s a catch, however. Gwendolyn wants her to paint a landscape to gift to her husband. Although Summer is experiencing “painter’s” block, she agrees to give it a go. On the mountaintop, she meets her boss’s ruggedly handsome forest ranger son, and the two immediately clash. He’s convinced his mother is playing matchmaker and he simply doesn’t have the time to be bothered. Or, does he?" -Goodreads.com

I feel like the cover for Summer on the Mountain doesn't do it justice, and if it hadn't been on Amazon's top kindle books while I was browsing it's free book I wouldn't have even given it a second glance. I'm so glad I did though. It's another one of those cute/happy romances that I just love to read, guilty pleasure? Probably. Even though I am probably as far away from a outdoors type person I fell in love with all the different things they did outside.

Bring Me Back by Taryn Plendl

"After losing her parents in a brutally horrific tragedy, Ally moves to a house in the mountains of Colorado. For two years, Ally has gotten through her very routine life by giving into her fears, living alone.
Ian is grieving the recent death of his young fiancé. Unsure of how to move on, he moves into a house in the mountains just down the shared drive from Ally, where he wants nothing more than to be by himself.
When Ally finds herself needing help for the first time in two years, she has no choice but to turn to Ian. Together, Ally and Ian are forced to deal with their own fears to get them through the next few weeks. What they never planned on was the deep feelings they would develop for each other, but is it enough to bring them back from the pain of their pasts?" -Goodreads.com
I loved how in Bring Me Back the focus for probably more than half the book wasn't just on relationship, but on healing. That even though it takes time to heal good things can com out of the pain.

Epic Fail by Claire LaZebnik

"At Coral Tree Prep in Los Angeles, who your parents are can make or break you. Cast in point:
- As the son of Hollywood royalty, Derek Edwards is pretty much prince of the school--not that he deigns to acknowledge many of his loyal subjects.
- As the daughter of the new principal, Elise Benton isn't exactly on everyone's must-sit-next-to-at-lunch list.
When Elise's beautiful sister catches the eye of the prince's best friend, Elise gets to spend a lot of time with Derek, making her the envy of every girl on campus. Except she refuses to fall for any of his rare smiles and instead warms up to his enemy, the surprisingly charming social outcast Webster Grant. But in this hilarious tale of fitting in and flirting, not all snubs are undeserved, not all celebrity brats are bratty, and pride and prejudice can get in the way of true love for only so long." -Goodreads.com

So it's safe to say I like any type of Pride and Prejudice like books... And if I see one I am actually drawn to it. I just love the whole story line of it! And Epic Fail did not fail me. It is one of those cute giddy romances that just makes you root for them even though the guy can be odd at times.

Hacking Harvard by Robin Wasserman

"It's the ultimate challenge: breaking into the Ivy League.
The hack:
To get one deadbeat, fully unqualified slacker into the most prestigious school in the country.
The crew:
Eric Roth -- the good guy, the voice of reason.
Max Kim -- the player who made the bet in the first place.
Schwartz -- the kid genius already on the inside...of Harvard, that is.
Lexi -- the beauty-queen valedictorian who insists on getting in the game.
The plan:
Use only the most undetectable schemes and techno-brilliant skills. Don't break the Hacker's Code. Don't get distracted. Don't get caught. Take down someone who deserves it.
The stakes:
A lot higher than they think.
They've got the players, the plot, and soon -- the prize.
It's go time" -Goodreads.com
Hacking Harvard shows the pressure some people have when it comes to getting into a Ivy League. It's has the perspective of people who hate them and the ones who will do anything to get into them. The character who I liked best was Max, his whole family went to Harvard and it is assumed that he will go too. Even if he doesn't. So he decided to make a bet with some people that he could get anyone into Harvard to show how corrupt the system is.
I really liked how it played out, the only thing I didn't like was it switching really fast between different point of views and would sometimes have to read back to see who's character I was reading.

"What happens when you are followed by millions . . . and loved by none? Twenty-seven-year-old Logan Wade is trying to build a life for herself far from her unhappy childhood in Oklahoma. Until she gets the call that her famous cousin needs a new assistant— an offer she can’t refuse.
Logan hasn't seen Kelsey in person since their parents separated them as kids; in the meantime, Kelsey Wade has grown into Fortune Magazine’s most powerful celebrity. But their reunion is quickly overshadowed by the toxic dynamic between Kelsey and her parents as Logan discovers that, beneath the glossy facade  the wounds that caused them to be wrenched apart so many years ago have insidiously warped into a show-stopping family business.
As Kelsey tries desperately to break away and grasp at a “real” life, beyond the influence of her parents and managers, she makes one catastrophic misstep after another, and Logan must question if their childhood has left them both too broken to succeed. Logan risks everything to hold on, but when Kelsey unravels in the most horribly public way, Logan finds that she will ultimately have to choose between rescuing the girl she has always protected . . . and saving herself." -Goodread.com

Even though it's been several days since I've finished Between You and Me I still feel conflicted how I feel about it... Some things I liked about it but more and more there are things that bugged me so much! And without spoiling the book it's hard to put what all annoyed me... and out of the mental list of all the different stuff one of the big things I HATED was the ending... I felt like it was the short way out... if the ending was changed and went the complete opposite direction I think I would have ended up giving it a much better rating... Felt like the main idea of the book was good but it just fell flat...

The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle by Avi

"An ocean voyage of unimaginable consequences... Not every thirteen-year-old girl is accused of murder, brought to trial, and found guilty. But I was just such a girl, and my story is worth relating even if it did happen years ago. Be warned, however: If strong ideas and action offend you, read no more. Find another companion to share your idle hours. For my part I intend to tell the truth as I lived it." -Goodreads.com

The True Confessions of Charlotte Doyle was so good! Was a pretty quick read (was able to read it start to finish in about 2 or so hours) but I probably read it so fast because I couldn't wait to know what happened next, this was one of those books I had to almost cover the next page so I wouldn't read ahead. Going into it I didn't really know what to expect, only knew it won a few rewards and had been sitting on my personal tbr pile for a while now... the only thing I wish was that I read it earlier!

"Ashlyn Greenfield has always known when bad things are going to happen. Each time that familiar tingling at the back of her neck begins, she knows what's to come a trance. She's pulled in, blindsided, an unwilling witness to a horrible upcoming event. But she's never been able to stop it not even when the vision was of her mother's fatal car accident. When soulful Jake enters Ashlyn's life, she begins having trances about another car accident. And as her trances escalate, one thing becomes clear: it's up to her to save Jake from near-certain death." -Goodreads.com

Trance was so different compared to other books I've read recently...   Was set with a contemporary setting but has just a dash paranormal in it. I loved how well it flowed with the trances just wish ether the book was longer or there would be a sequel!

Faery Tales & Nightmares by Melissa Marr

"Dangerous promises and beguiling threats swirl together in a dozen stories of enchantments dark and light by New York Times bestselling author Melissa Marr. Uncanny and unexpected creatures appear from behind bushes, rise from beneath the seas, or manifest from seasonal storms to pursue the objects of their attention—with amorous or sinister intent—relentlessly.
From the gentle tones of a storyteller’s cadences to the terror of a blood sacrifice, tales of favorite characters from Marr’s Wicked Lovely novels mix with accounts of new characters for readers to fall in love with...or to fear.
Lush, seductive, and chilling, Melissa Marr’s stories revel in the unseen magic that infuses the world as we know it." -Goodreads.com
I have actually been wanting to read Faery Tales & Nightmares for a while now. Originally because I thought it was in a way retellings of old fairy tales (but obviously isn't). Even though I went into it expecting something else I still loved it, and actually makes me want to read the Wicked Lovely series (because I still haven't read them!). Night Runner by Max Turner

"For Zack Thomson, life in the Nicholls Ward wasn't so bad. After his parents died, he developed strange allergies, and the mental institution was the only place where he could be properly looked after. As strange as it was, it was home. But that all changes the night a stranger on a Harley crashes through the front doors and tells him to run. Along with his best friend Charlie and a girl he may or may not be falling in love with, Zack does just that: run. Under the cover of night, hiding amongst the shadows, he races for the truth." -Goodreads.com

If I had known Night Runner was about vampires I wouldn't have read it. In everything I read about it before starting it not one of them *that I saw* said it was about vampires, and it's not like the vampires showed up closer to then end of the book. I think it was around page 40 that it first started. And even though I am strongly against stopping a book I haven't finished I was so close to stopping this one right there (if I had brought my kindle to work with me that day I would have). Because I am just not a big fan of vampire themed books, never have been and don't see it happening in the near future. It did get a bit better at the end of it (hence the 3 stars) but not something over fabulous.

But now I have a choice. Do I continue the lie... or tell Cary the truth... and risk losing her?" -Goodreads.com

Downtown was a pretty short book (only about 200 pages) was a pretty quick read. In a way felt like it didn't have anything major happen until the very end... And I really wish it had more with the ending, felt like there could have been a whole lot that could have been pulled from it.

Prep by Curtis Sittenfeld

"Curtis Sittenfeld’s debut novel, Prep, is an insightful, achingly funny coming-of-age story as well as a brilliant dissection of class, race, and gender in a hothouse of adolescent angst and ambition.
Lee Fiora is an intelligent, observant fourteen-year-old when her father drops her off in front of her dorm at the prestigious Ault School in Massachusetts. She leaves her animated, affectionate family in South Bend, Indiana, at least in part because of the boarding school’s glossy brochure, in which boys in sweaters chat in front of old brick buildings, girls in kilts hold lacrosse sticks on pristinely mown athletic fields, and everyone sings hymns in chapel.
As Lee soon learns, Ault is a cloistered world of jaded, attractive teenagers who spend summers on Nantucket and speak in their own clever shorthand. Both intimidated and fascinated by her classmates, Lee becomes a shrewd observer of–and, ultimately, a participant in–their rituals and mores. As a scholarship student, she constantly feels like an outsider and is both drawn to and repelled by other loners. By the time she’s a senior, Lee has created a hard-won place for herself at Ault. But when her behavior takes a self-destructive and highly public turn, her carefully crafted identity within the community is shattered.
Ultimately, Lee’s experiences–complicated relationships with teachers; intense friendships with other girls; an all-consuming preoccupation with a classmate who is less than a boyfriend and more than a crush; conflicts with her parents, from whom Lee feels increasingly distant, coalesce into a singular portrait of the painful and thrilling adolescence universal to us all." -Goodreads.com
So at times reading Prep I was really loving it... and other times was getting so annoyed with the characters... Also I didn't like how at the end of every chapter it would have her future self telling what happened to so and so after they graduated from Ault. Which didn't really flow well with one part in her Junior year because you know it wouldn't happen... But since overall besides the flaws I did like it I decided to give it 3 stars...

A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens

"On Christmas Eve, Scrooge sits in his house with not a kind word for anyone; he just wants to be left alone until the “humbug” of Christmas is over. But four ghostly visitors—his former business partner, followed by the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Christmas Present, and Christmas Yet to Come—show him the error of his ways, and by the time Christmas Day dawns, Scrooge is a changed person." -Goodreads.com

A Christmas Carol is one of those stories that everyone knows, from all the movies, plays, and of course the book. I'm pretty sure I read this before but it's one of those that I think I read but not 100% sure that I did, so I decided to read it again. And it was so good reading it, in a way I was actually able to picture the ghosts better reading them but in my head they weren't like in the movies/plays I've seen of it which I thought that was cool, also reading it really makes me want to go reread Charles Dickens' other books, since last time I read them was with the lovely high school reading list.

Shattered Souls by Mary Lindsey

"A thrilling debut story of death, love, destiny, and danger
Lenzi hears voices and has visions - gravestones, floods, a boy with steel gray eyes. Her boyfriend, Zak, can't help, and everything keeps getting louder and more intense. Then Lenzi meets Alden, the boy from her dreams, who reveals that she's a reincarnated Speaker - someone who can talk to and help lost souls - and that he has been her Protector for centuries.
Now Lenzi must choose between her life with Zak and the life she is destined to lead with Alden. But time is running out: a malevolent spirit is out to destroy Lenzi, and he will kill her if she doesn't make a decision soon." -Goodreads.com
Shattered Souls was a pretty quick read for me, only less than 3 hours, but while reading it I actually got so sucked into it that I didn't look at the time for almost 2 hours. I'm not normally super into ghost stories but this one was just so freaking good. So much about it that I loved that I can't think at what I liked most about it... I pretty much was already sucked into by about 20 pages into it :)

The Veil by Cory Putman Oakes

"Seventeen-year-old Addison Russell is in for a shock when she discovers that she can see the invisible world of the Annorasi. Suddenly, nothing is as it appears to be -- the house she lives in, the woman who raised her, even the most beautiful boy in town all turn out to be more than what they seem. And when this strange new world forces Addy to answer for a crime that was committed long ago, by parents she has never known, she has no choice but to trust Luc, the mysterious Annorasi who has been sent to protect her. Or so he says . . ." -Goodreads.com

The Veil is one of those books that at times I truly loved it... and other times hated it. Pushing the Limits by Katie McGarry

"No one knows what happened the night Echo Emerson went from popular girl with jock boyfriend to gossiped-about outsider with "freaky" scars on her arms. Even Echo can't remember the whole truth of that horrible night. All she knows is that she wants everything to go back to normal. But when Noah Hutchins, the smoking-hot, girl-using loner in the black leather jacket, explodes into her life with his tough attitude and surprising understanding, Echo's world shifts in ways she could never have imagined. They should have nothing in common. And with the secrets they both keep, being together is pretty much impossible.
Yet the crazy attraction between them refuses to go away. And Echo has to ask herself just how far they can push the limits and what she'll risk for the one guy who might teach her how to love again." -Goodreads.com

Not going to lie, Pushing the Limits gave me all the wonder feels. It was so much more than just the average teen romance. Had so much depth and even though there was the romance it didn't completely carry the whole book... Echo trying to remember and Noah trying to keep is brothers together is was moves the book along. Also in Pushing the Limits had from both Echo and Noah's point of views which I also really liked. :)

Crash by Nicole Williams

"Southpointe High is the last place Lucy wanted to wind up her senior year of school. Right up until she stumbles into Jude Ryder, a guy whose name has become its own verb, and synonymous with trouble. He's got a rap sheet that runs longer than a senior thesis, has had his name sighed, shouted, and cursed by more women than Lucy dares to ask, and lives at the local boys home where disturbed seems to be the status quo for the residents. Lucy had a stable at best, quirky at worst, upbringing. She lives for wearing the satin down on her ballet shoes, has her sights set on Juilliard, and has been careful to keep trouble out of her life. Up until now.
Jude's everything she needs to stay away from if she wants to separate her past from her future. Staying away, she's about to find out, is the only thing she's incapable of.
For Lucy Larson and Jude Ryder, love's about to become the thing that tears them apart." -Goodreads.com

Exclusively Yours by Shannon Stacey

"When Keri Daniels' editor finds out she has previous carnal knowledge of reclusive bestselling author Joe Kowalski, she gives Keri a choice: get an interview or get a new job.
Joe's never forgotten the first girl to break his heart, so he's intrigued to hear Keri's back in town--and looking for him. Despite his intense need for privacy, he'll grant Keri an interview if it means a chance to finish what they started in high school.
He proposes an outrageous plan--for every day she survives with his family on their annual camping and four-wheeling trip, Keri can ask one question. Keri agrees; she's worked too hard to walk away from her career.
But the chemistry between them is still as potent as the bug spray, Joe's sister is out to avenge his broken heart and Keri hasn't ridden an ATV since she was ten. Who knew a little blackmail, a whole lot of family and some sizzling romantic interludes could make Keri reconsider the old dream of Keri & Joe 2gether 4ever." -Goodreads.com

Not going to lie, I am a sucker for romances and always keep a eye out for cute ones like this on kindle. And Exclusively Yours did not fail me :) Even though you know in a way what is going to happen I just love the romance about it, that there is someone that might have been in your past but will always be there to love :)

3.5 stars. (Though as a future warning, romances like this I normally don't rate over 3 unless I love loved them just because I sometimes feel like they are sometimes a dime a dozen, no matter how cute they are)

Cindy and the Prom King by Carol Culver

"Cindy Ellis has plans for her life that do not include working in her stepmother’s spa. When she gets a scholarship to Manderley, Cindy thinks her dreams are finally coming true. Filled with visions of an Ivy League education and a fabulous new life, she can’t wait to leave Castle High behind and get started. If only she didn’t have to leave her two BFFs as well, it would be perfect. When the school’s drop-dead gorgeous transfer student and star soccer player, Marco, notices her on the first day of school, it almost is.
But that’s where the fairy tale ends…because, once inside the hallowed halls with classes in full swing, Cindy sticks out like a generic brand among designer labels. Tormented by her snotty stepsisters and without her best friends for support, she begins to wonder if Manderley Prep is really all it’s cracked up to be. But when Cindy meets sweet-but-spoiled Victoria and Scott, who are itching to give her a makeover, she might jut find some new BFFs, too. And after a true fairy-tale moment with Marco, maybe even a BF…" -Goodreads.com
As far as modern Cinderella-like stories there are (that I've read) this is probably my least favorite... In Cindy and the Prom King I was getting with how immature Cindy was and it didn't feel like she really grew up in the book or learned who her friends were... Grrrrr... I'm just glad I got this for free on kindle and didn't spend any money on it...
